Our people
Hi, My name is Gary Ward and I am 18 years old. I joined the team at Forth Steel in July 2007 and over the last year, I have been exposed to a range of operational, technical and commercial experiences.
In November 2007 as part of Forth Steel’s professional development programme, I was put forward for an apprenticeship in Business Administration to be undertaken on site at Forth Steel. The course has complimented my work at Forth Steel and in September 2008, I completed the course and was awarded a level 3 SVQ in Business Administration. The course has benefited both myself and our business allowing attainment of a recognised qualification in the process.
Since completing my apprenticeship I have been more involved in the commercial side of the business in a sales support role and I am really enjoying it. My knowledge continues to increase thanks to the support of my colleagues and interesting visits to steel mills and material testing labs. These visits have helped me gain a better understanding of our industry and our products.
Continuous investment and improvements to our facilities and infrastructure coupled with announcements across the group make Forth Steel and exciting and rewarding place to work.
In my spare time I play football for Edinburgh City East of Scotland 19’s and at time of writing we top the table.
I look forward to continuing my development at Forth Steel and thank the team for their patience, help and support throughout.
